Duplicating or Mirroring Sections

The Site Manager provides two different ways to reuse content on your website: duplicating sections and using an Advanced - Mirror Section. While both can help you reuse layouts or content, they function in very different ways.

Understanding the difference between these two features will help you choose the best option depending on whether you want an independent copy of a section or a shared reference to the same content.

Duplicating a Section

Section duplication allows you to create a complete copy of an existing section. The new section includes the same layout, settings, and content, but becomes fully independent from the original.

How to Duplicate a Section

  1. Log in to your Site Manager administration panel.
  2. Open the page that contains the section you want to copy.
  3. Locate the section in the page editor.
  4. Click the Duplicate option in the section controls.
  5. The copied section will appear immediately below the original.

Once duplicated, the new section can be edited freely without affecting the original section.

What Gets Copied

  • Section title and configuration settings
  • Layout structure (including columns and nested sections)
  • Content such as text, images, and galleries
  • Module settings such as forms, buttons, maps, and media

If a section contains images or other media, the system creates a separate copy so the duplicated section can be modified without changing the original content.

When to Use Duplication

  • Creating multiple sections with similar formatting
  • Reusing a layout and then customizing the content
  • Building complex pages more quickly by copying existing structures

Using an Advanced - Mirror Section

A mirror section allows you to display the content of another section somewhere else on the website. Instead of creating a copy, the mirror simply references the original section.

Because of this, any updates made to the original section automatically appear everywhere the section is mirrored.

Characteristics of Mirror Sections

  • They reference an existing section rather than creating a copy.
  • The mirrored content stays synchronized with the original.
  • Editing the original section updates all mirrored locations automatically.

When to Use Mirror Sections

  • Displaying the same content on multiple pages
  • Maintaining announcements or notices across several locations
  • Ensuring consistent information without editing multiple sections

Key Difference

  • Duplicate: Creates a new independent section that can be edited separately.
  • Mirror: Displays another section's content and stays linked to the original.

In short, duplication creates a new section, while a mirror section displays an existing one.
