The process for changing domains is as follows:
1) The new domain would be registered.
2) The new domain would be made your primary domain. Your old domain would become a secondary domain, parked on top of the new domain.
3) The old domain would either be allowed to expire or you could renew this domain, keeping it as a secondary domain.
