Spam Protection helps filter unwanted email messages before they reach your inbox. The system analyzes incoming messages and assigns a score based on characteristics commonly associated with spam.
Messages that exceed the configured spam score are automatically placed in your Spam folder.
Accessing Spam Protection
To configure spam filtering, go to:
Email → Tools → Spam Protection
From this page you can adjust the sensitivity of the spam filter and manage trusted or blocked senders.
Spam Sensitivity Score
Each incoming message is evaluated and assigned a numeric score. The Spam Sensitivity Score determines the threshold at which a message is considered spam.
- Lower scores make filtering stricter and may classify more messages as spam.
- Higher scores are more tolerant and only filter obvious spam.
Typical values:
- 2–3 – Very strict filtering (may catch legitimate messages)
- 5 – Balanced filtering (recommended)
- 8–10 – Only obvious spam is filtered
Trusted Senders
The Trusted Senders list allows you to whitelist specific email addresses or domains. Messages from these senders will always be delivered normally and will never be treated as spam.
Enter one address or domain per line.
Example:
parishioner@example.com example.org
Blocked Senders
The Blocked Senders list allows you to permanently mark specific addresses or domains as spam. Messages from these senders will always be filtered.
Enter one address or domain per line.
Example:
spam@example.com spamdomain.net
Best Practices
- Use the default score of 5 unless you are experiencing excessive spam.
- Add trusted contacts or mailing lists to the Trusted Senders list.
- Avoid blocking entire domains unless you are certain they send only spam.
- Review your Spam folder periodically to ensure legitimate messages are not being filtered.
Important Notes
- Spam filtering analyzes incoming messages automatically.
- Trusted senders bypass spam filtering entirely.
- Blocked senders will always be treated as spam regardless of message content.
